1:1 Somatic Psychotherapy
I work with clients in-person from my home clinic space in Palmyra, WA, or online from anywhere in the world. I currently see clients every Tuesday from 9:30-5:00 AWST, with some availability for online sessions after hours or on other days. The first step to working together is to book a free 15-minute introduction call or to fill out an online form.
Working together one-on-one, our sessions will combine holistic counselling and traditional psychotherapy with body-based techniques such as tracking, breathing, movement, and therapeutic touch. Through increasing your awareness of and connection to your felt somatic experiences, we are able to begin to gently reveal and release layers of emotion, stress, and conditioning that may be unconsciously driving your current experience of life.
Every session will look different from the one before, as we meet you - and your body - in each moment. My primary intention is to work within the current capacity of your nervous system, as this is how we begin to build your felt sense of safety over time. Sessions may include:
Counselling and talk therapy to help build an awareness and understanding of your current and past experiences, how they continue to shape and affect your life today, and what you desire for yourself instead.
Exercises to increase your connection to and awareness of your body and your somatic experience.
Techniques which support you in processing and integrating emotions and sensations, increasing your nervous system capacity, and experiencing different ways of being and feeling.
Psychoeducation to support you to understand yourself and to increase your capacity to support yourself in the future (so that your relationship to therapy becomes “because I want to” instead of “because I need to”).
My approach to therapy is…
Trauma-Responsive:
I am trained to work directly with trauma and to support you in processing and integrating these experiences and the flow-on effects that arise from them.
Trauma-Informed:
I consider the impacts and ramifications of trauma in how I carry out our sessions, as well as how I run my business, with a focus on personal safety and autonomy.
Holistic:
All parts of you are welcome as they are all interconnected. We look at who you are individually, relationally, spiritually, and within the collective.
Relational:
The therapeutic relationship is treated as a microcosm of your relationships outside of therapy, and plays a central role in our work together.
Please note, I work with clients on an ongoing basis and this work is not suitable for single sessions.
Although my goal is always for you to experience positive changes as soon as possible, it takes time to create long-lasting shifts within our bodies and psyches. How long this takes will differ for each individual, depending on your own lived experiences, any previous healing or personal development work you have done, the pace your body and nervous system need to move at, and how long it takes for us to develop our therapeutic relationship.
For this reason, I aim to keep my fees as accessible as possible. My current session fee is $130/hour.

FAQs
-
My current session fee is $130 for a 60-minute session, for both in-person and online.
-
Yes! You can either come to my home studio in Palmyra (WA), or book in online.

If you are a new client, I recommend booking fortnightly sessions, as this allows a good balance between interrupting current patterns and time for integration. If you would like to begin with a more intensive level of support, you are welcome to book weekly appointments.
Once we have achieved some solid changes for you, this frequency can be decreased.

I am unable to make any guarantees as to how long it will take us to get results for you, as this differs greatly from person to person depending on your lived experiences and how they continue to affect you currently. My intention, however, is always to try to achieve change as quickly as possible for you, whilst doing so at a pace that is healing for you individually.
As a starting point, I recommend committing to a minimum of 8 sessions before assessing whether you would like to continue.
-
Absolutely not.
I work on quite a broad definition of trauma, and in my experience most of us have, in some shape or form, experienced trauma in our life.
This being said, even if you do not have a lived experience of trauma, we all have lived experiences that continue to shape how we relate to the world. Somatic Psychotherapy can help you to understand these experiences and to choose a new way of being moving forward.

Unfortunately, psychotherapy is not able to be claimed under Medicare. My current fee structure has been decided with this in mind, and the session cost is roughly the same as (or in a lot of cases less than) the gap fee for a clinical psychologist.
